One of our deeply held beliefs is that giving of our time, our money, and talents are central to what is going on in our hearts. If we as a people are filled with love and compassion then we will pour out our resources for others. We can't help it! If we are a people who live connected lives with Jesus, then his love will flow from us in practical ways. One such way is giving of our financial resources.

From the time we collected our first offerings, we wanted our community to be marked by generosity. We did not, and do not, desire to be a community whose funds are solely spent on taking care of other Christians. There is a place for programs, buildings, and infrastructure, but if not guarded, many times little money makes it outside of the church walls. It is with that in mind that we choose to designate 20% of all funds that come into our community to go outside to those with little hope. We call the the 5:14 Initiative. This choice makes us continually evaluate each expenditure and helps us to continually discern if we are growing in simplicity and giving generously.
